Seonhyudo — A Landscape for Immortals at Rest
선휴도(仙休圖)
This drawing began with memories of mountains, trees and still water encountered during a stay at Soyang Gotaek in Wanju. A landscape where immortals might pause to rest holds the feelings and perspective of a person within it.

Artist’s words
“The pine leaned aside to yield the distant view, and the wind held its breath, letting the sky rest upon the still water.”
I recalled the moments I cherished most while staying at Soyang Gotaek, nestled in the mountains of Wanju. I felt peaceful sitting at a small table with a book and flowers, and was overwhelmed by the grandeur of the mountains around us. A landscape where immortals might rest: Seonhyudo. I built up the lines to bring the mountains (山), the tree (木), and my own feelings and gaze as a person (人) within them into the work, hoping others might share the same feeling.
