Panorama of Haebangchon
해방촌 전경
While taking down an outdoor exhibition near Noksapyeong Station, the artist was struck by Haebangchon in the late-afternoon light. Houses gathered along the hillside and Namsan beyond remained in memory until a later exhibition in Haebangchon prompted this pen drawing.

Artist’s words
One summer day in 2017, I held an outdoor exhibition on a pedestrian bridge near the exit of Noksapyeong Station. As I was taking down the works afterward, a view held my gaze for a long time: Haebangchon glowing red in the late-afternoon sun. Houses crowded the hillside, with Namsan rising behind them. The impression was so powerful that it lingered in my mind. Later, an opportunity to exhibit at a gallery in Haebangchon prompted me to put this scene, which I had carried only in my heart, onto paper with a pen.
